McPHERSON — The ReUse It Center continued its tradition of community support in August, distributing benevolent funds to four organizations making a difference across McPherson and the surrounding area.

Among this month's recipients was the Inman Ministerial Alliance, which unites local churches to serve Inman's spiritual and physical needs — including operating the Inman Food Pantry for residents facing food insecurity. The Omega Project also received support for its faith-based recovery program, which offers men and women a path away from jail or homelessness through housing, job training, and mentorship from those who've overcome addiction themselves.

Meals on Wheels of McPherson was recognized for its work delivering hot, nutritious meals to elderly and homebound residents every day of the year. Rounding out the distributions, the McPherson Police Department's partnership with Simple Outreach Solutions received support for its youth education efforts, which cover topics like crime prevention, bicycle safety, and internet safety through school visits, station tours, and community events.

The ReUse It Center also recognized Troy Melroy as its Volunteer of the Month. Melroy first came to the Center through the Omega Program, working in the receiving area on Saturdays before expanding to Thursdays as well. Known for his servant heart and leadership among the volunteer crew, Melroy said volunteering at the Center is simply his way of giving back to the community.
