### Second straw water project advances to design phase

PAGE, Ariz. — The design, engineering and environmental phases of Page's "second straw" water project are moving forward, utilizing funding from the state Water Infrastructure Finance Authority and the Environmental Protection Agency. Mayor Steven Kidman noted during the meeting that project leaders are waiting for Congress to enter its lame-duck session in mid-November for further federal developments, but current funding guarantees preliminary work will continue unabated.

### Planners rework data center zoning draft following public input

PAGE, Ariz. — The Planning and Zoning Commission is revising a proposed zoning overlay for a new data center district after a large community turnout at two recent meetings. The overlay, which would potentially apply to local industrial areas, is being reworked by consultant Roger Eastman of Logan Simpson — an environmental planning and design firm — to incorporate feedback from residents and will be brought before the city council sometime next year.

### New zoning allows for equestrian lots and 4-H expansion

PAGE, Ariz. — Citing high local demand for horse properties, the Page City Council unanimously approved a zoning map amendment for 24.68 acres in the Colt Springs subdivision, changing the designation from small-lot residential to a one-acre residential estate classification. Trout Land Development requested the change to create 15 to 16 "ranchette" lots ranging from one to three acres, providing Page families with space for boarding horses and raising livestock for local 4-H programs and college scholarships.

### Pump track construction begins as parks board weighs upgrades

PAGE, Ariz. — Construction on a new pump track in Page officially began Oct. 5, following recent sidewalk replacements at John C. Page Park that resolved ongoing water drainage issues near the skate park bowl and pickleball courts. The Parks and Recreation Advisory Board is also outlining priorities for the next fiscal year, which include addressing a lack of shade at the park, advancing the Urban Trail Master Plan and building an Americans with Disabilities Act-accessible playground.

### Commission prepares survey for youth mental health grant

PAGE, Ariz. — The Page Youth Advisory Commission is drafting a public survey to determine how best to utilize resources from a newly acquired Coconino County Health and Human Services grant aimed at supporting youth mental health and wellness. While a specific dollar amount was not disclosed, county officials noted the grant covers staff time for one full-time and one part-time employee, as well as money for supplies and contracts for classes, which will help local officials identify community needs and allocate the county funds effectively within city limits.

### Economic board reports decline in visitation and sales tax

PAGE, Ariz. — Page is experiencing a 6 percent drop in tourism visitation, leading to a corresponding decrease in local sales tax revenue, according to an update from the Economic Development Advisory Board. While domestic tourists from Arizona, California, and Utah remain the top visitors overall, the board noted that international tourists still arrived in large numbers this month, predominantly from Italy, France, Germany, and Switzerland, as the city also announced retroactive adjustments to its facade improvement program.

### County officials outline Page voter trends ahead of election

PAGE, Ariz. — Coconino County election officials presented an overview of the upcoming Nov. 3 general election, noting that Page voters will decide on local ballot measure Proposition 406 — which restricts the city from reducing vehicle lanes on Lake Powell Boulevard — alongside federal and state races. Officials highlighted that the Page polling location serviced the largest geographic area of out-of-precinct voters in the county during the 2024 presidential election, though the city's overall voter turnout of 65 percent to 70 percent typically trails slightly behind the countywide average.

### Early in-person voting deadline adjusted for City Hall closure

PAGE, Ariz. — Page residents planning to vote early in person at City Hall for the 2026 general election must cast their ballots by Thursday, Oct. 29, one day earlier than the Coconino County early voting deadline. City officials clarified that because municipal offices are closed on Fridays, the local early voting facility will not be open on the standard Friday, Oct. 30 deadline.
