Ruben Gallego PAGE, Ariz. — U.S. Sen. Ruben Gallego recently visited Page to meet with city officials and local business leaders. Due to open meeting laws, only three city council members attended the brief session, which focused on federal support for the city's second water straw project and reconstruction efforts following the 2025 Dragon Bravo Fire. Gallego also shared updates on bipartisan housing bills that could assist the local market, and city officials noted they will remain in touch with the senator's office to secure ongoing federal help. --- ### Redundant water source project enters contract phase PAGE, Ariz. — City officials reported significant progress on the city's redundant water source project, commonly referred to as the second water straw. Officials announced that the city is currently drafting contracts for the environmental and engineering specifications for the project's intake structure, which will be located in an area of Lake Powell. It was stated that this vital infrastructure project is moving forward at a "very nice pace." --- ### City reports record attendance at Fourth of July festivities PAGE, Ariz. — The city's Fourth of July celebrations drew an estimated 4,000 visitors to John C. Page Memorial Park over the course of the day. City officials reported that the events featured 47 parade floats, 56 vendors and multiple community contests. Additionally, about 1,500 people attended the evening fireworks display, which was entirely operated by city staff. All city departments, including police, fire, public works and the Page Community Center, collaborated to manage the high turnout. --- ### Fourth of July traffic jam prompts planning adjustments PAGE, Ariz. — While the Fourth of July events were largely successful, city staff noted a significant traffic bottleneck on Haul Road when Rodeo 98 let out at the exact time city buses were transporting residents to Page Sports Complex for fireworks. Officials noted they will use this data, along with upcoming online public surveys and crowd-size drone footage captured during the event, to improve traffic flow, busing strategies and accessibility for next year's celebrations. --- ### Council directs staff to pursue Lake Powell Boulevard safety study PAGE, Ariz. — Prompted by recent accidents and persistent speeding concerns, the city council directed staff to move forward with a formal safety study of Lake Powell Boulevard. Officials noted that previous streetscape plans only addressed the corridor between North and South Navajo drives, leaving out high-risk areas including the hills leading away from U.S. Route 89\. City staff confirmed they are already engaging with consulting engineers on the issue and will bring formal findings back to the council, while officials requested that staff also follow up on previously ordered permanent radar speed signs. --- ### Pump track slated for October completion, pickleball courts considered PAGE, Ariz. — The Page Parks and Recreation Advisory Board is moving forward with the design phase of a new pump track, currently estimated for completion by the end of October. The board is also exploring adding dual striping to the city's tennis courts during an upcoming resurfacing project to accommodate the growing demand for pickleball.
