Motorists in Manhattan will face an overnight road closure early next week as city crews perform pavement marking maintenance on a portion of Leavenworth Street.

The 200 block of Leavenworth Street is set to close to all through traffic from 10 p.m. Monday, Oct. 12, until 6 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 13.

While drivers are urged to find alternate routes, access to the Hy-Vee gas station and other local businesses in the block will remain open from the street's west side. City officials said the overnight closure is designed to provide adequate time for the new road paint to safely cure while keeping daytime traffic disruptions to a minimum.

In addition to the street work, the city is scheduled to restripe three municipal parking lots starting tonight. Those overnight closures will run from 10 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 8, through 6 a.m. Friday, Oct. 9.

The affected properties include the City All Day Lot in the 400 block of Humboldt Street, as well as the parking lots for both the Eisenhower Recreation Center and the Anthony Recreation Center.

The scheduled infrastructure updates were announced via Manhattan's "In the Zone" [notification system](https://www.manhattanks.gov/252/Email-Text-Notifications?ref=citizenjournal.us), which regularly alerts residents to local work zones and traffic impacts.
