Newton Police Department warrant officer Stanley Kurtz was recognized as one of the city’s Employees of the Year in Oct. 22 social media posts from the City of Newton and the police department.

The posts praised Kurtz’s “strong work ethic, positive attitude,” dedication, and humility.

The posts said Kurtz shows care for residents during summer bike patrols through city parks by stopping, listening, and checking in with people.

The city and department described Kurtz as a valued teammate and role model for fellow officers. As an example, the posts said he recently brought flowers to a coworker going through a difficult time “to brighten their day and remind them they weren’t alone.”
