# Newton police and Freddy’s team up for 'Custard with Cops' fundraiser

NEWTON, Kan. — The Newton Police Department partnered with Freddy’s Frozen Custard & Steakburgers this week to raise money for Special Olympics Kansas through a "Custard with Cops" community event. The gathering gave residents a chance to meet local officers, eat frozen custard and donate to a cause that funds year-round sports, health, inclusion and leadership programs for the organization's more than 5,000 athletes statewide.

Several Special Olympics athletes joined the evening's festivities, showcasing their medal collections and interacting with the community. Freewill donations from attendees, along with a dedicated portion of Freddy's sales, funded the programs through the Law Enforcement Torch Run, a longstanding initiative in which police agencies help raise awareness and funds for the Special Olympics.
