# MMS 8th Grade Bullpups Sweep Season-Opening Dual vs. Arkansas City

McPherson Middle School's 8th grade volleyball teams kicked off the 2026 season with a clean sweep at home over Arkansas City, with both the A and B squads picking up straight-set wins.

The 8A team opened with a 25-15, 25-9 victory. After working through a few unforced errors in the first set, the Bullpups settled in and grew more consistent with their serving and hitting as the match went on. Hayden Allen anchored the team with strong passing, while middle hitter Cali Melton contributed solid net play. Cayson Harlin and Hayden Vogelsberg applied steady pressure from the service line, keeping Arkansas City on its heels in serve receive. Coach Christine Pianalto said the team is looking forward to growing as it faces tougher competition in the coming weeks.

The 8B team also opened strong, winning 25-6, 25-13\. Coach Brittany Baum highlighted the team's communication and positive energy throughout the match, along with setters who consistently set up hitters for kills at the net. Auri Perryman stood out with an exceptional night serving.

Both teams begin the season 1-0\. The 8th grade Bullpups will be back in action Monday, Aug. 31, traveling to Circle Middle School for a triangular against Circle and Haysville West.
