# McPherson schools post first renderings for $89.5 million bond projects

McPherson Public Schools has released the first renderings, site plans and phasing timelines for the [$89.5 million in school construction voters approved in March](https://www.citizenjournal.us/usd-418-voters-approve-89-5-million-bond/), after completing schematic design on the bond projects.

According to the district's announcement, Question 1, totaling $62.5 million, covers major renovations and an addition at McPherson High School, secure entrances at Lincoln and Roosevelt elementary schools, and the payoff of three existing lease purchases. Question 2, totaling $27 million, covers converting the Eisenhower site into McPherson Middle School, updates to elementary academic spaces and improvements to the high school's outdoor facilities.

The work will be done in multiple phases: elementary projects scheduled around school breaks as much as possible; minimal impact expected at the future middle school, since the Eisenhower building no longer serves as an elementary school; and a high school phasing plan designed to keep students in their classrooms and limit the number of teacher and class moves.

Superintendent Cody Rierson, who took over the district in July 2026 after previously serving as a McPherson principal, inherited a bond campaign run before his arrival; the package grew out of a long-range facility plan the board adopted in December 2025\. The district said staff saw the plans and were able to ask questions before the public release.
