MCPHERSON, Kan. — The City of McPherson and its police department are actively [recruiting full-time officers](https://www.citizenjournal.us/mcpherson-police-department-launches-recruitment-drive-to-bolster-local-force/) with “character, compassion, and courage” to fully staff a 34-member force serving the community's nearly 14,000 residents.

Under the direction of [Police Chief Mikel T. Golden](https://mcpcity.com/directory.aspx?EID=72&ref=citizenjournal.us), the agency is offering a starting wage of $23.04 an hour and will sponsor basic academy training at the Kansas Law Enforcement Training Center for qualified candidates who are not yet state-certified.
