# McPherson firefighters train in swift-water rescue

The McPherson Fire Department said in a [Facebook post](https://www.facebook.com/1279419264229092/posts/1554948133342869) Tuesday, Oct. 6, that firefighters trained in swift-water rescue last week, practicing how to read and navigate currents, perform rescues, and work as a team.

During the period referenced in the post, the National Weather Service in Wichita issued an [Oct. 1 flood warning for McPherson County](https://www.citizenjournal.us/flood-warning-issued-for-mcpherson-county-after-up-to-2-inches-of-rain/). The warning was issued at 3:13 p.m. after up to 2 inches of rain had fallen since Wednesday evening, with up to 3 additional inches possible through Thursday evening.
