Free lunch program feeds over 1,200 children as district tackles summer hunger

USD 418's Summer Food Service Program launched with remarkable success, serving more than 12,000 meals to over 1,200 children throughout McPherson on the first day alone. The district's Food Service Team coordinated the massive meal distribution effort, which provides free breakfast and lunch to local youth during summer break when school meals are unavailable. The federally-funded program, which runs through July, operates at multiple sites across McPherson and is open to all children 18 and under regardless of income or school enrollment status.
