McPherson Police Chief Mikel Golden shared several updates in his weekly report. The police department's substation construction is progressing well with walls being erected this week. Additionally, the department's command trailer is currently receiving graphics and is expected to be delivered soon, enhancing the department's mobile response capabilities.
Chief Golden will host veterans and first responders at the department's shooting range on May 24 from 8 a.m. to noon. During this event, he plans to discuss Sheep Dog Impact Assistance, for which he serves as an Ambassador, and provide information about community resources available to veterans and first responders.
Wild Valor, a McPherson-based veterans' support organization, recently held its first Golf Tournament Fundraiser. The nonprofit focuses on helping veterans through various community initiatives. Chief Golden serves as a Board Member for this organization, which continues to strengthen ties between local law enforcement and the veteran community.
