MCPHERSON, Kan. — McPherson High School will offer its comprehensive Speed, Power and Strength (SPS) program throughout the summer of 2025, providing training opportunities for all district athletes in grades 7-12. The program, designed to improve speed, power, and strength while reducing injury risk for athletes across all sports, will run from June 9 through August 7 with sessions held Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday at McPherson High School facilities.
The summer schedule features three daily training sessions to accommodate different age groups and maximize participation. Session 1 runs from 6:15-7:30 a.m. for boys in grades 9-12, Session 2 operates from 8:15-9:30 a.m. for both girls and boys in grades 9-12, and Session 3 is scheduled from 9:00-10:00 a.m. for girls and boys in grades 7-8. All training sessions will utilize the school's weight room, wrestling room, gymnasium, and outdoor facilities. The program will observe the traditional Fourth of July moratorium with no activities scheduled from June 30 through July 6, and will conclude with combine testing on August 11th at 4:00 p.m. for girls and 5:00 p.m. for boys in grades 9-12, featuring assessments in the 20-yard dash, vertical jump, pro agility, and standing broad jump.
