Softball advances to state title game, playing Eudora now

SALINA/WICHITA — The McPherson Bullpups are making their presence felt across multiple venues as they compete for state titles in baseball, softball, and track and field this weekend.
In softball action at Salina South High School, the undefeated Lady Pups jumped to a 3-0 lead over Eudora in the title game after the third inning in their quest for the school's first-ever state softball championship.
Meanwhile, at Dean Evans Stadium, the McPherson baseball team fell 3-1 to defending champion Rock Creek in eight innings during semifinal play. The loss sends the Bullpups to the third-place game against Paola, where they rallied from a 2-0 deficit to take a 9-3 lead after 3 innings.
Both boys and girls track athletes are competing at Cessna Stadium on the Wichita State University campus in the two-day 4A state meet.
The baseball and softball championships conclude tonight, while track and field competition runs through Saturday.
