SALINA, Kan. — The McPherson High School Lady Bullpups softball team made history Friday by capturing the program's first-ever state championship, completing a perfect 31-0 season with dominant victories in both the Class 4A semifinals and championship game. Senior ace Addison Chapman delivered clutch performances on the mound in both contests, shutting out Clearwater 7-0 in the semifinals before securing the title with a 4-1 victory over Eudora in the championship game. The historic achievement came under first-year head coach Daryl Hoelting, who guided the Lady Bullpups to unprecedented heights in his inaugural season at the helm.

The remarkable campaign saw McPherson outscore its opponents by an astounding margin of 248-36 throughout the season, showcasing the team's dominance on both sides of the ball. The Lady Bullpups' perfect season and state championship performance will go down not only as the greatest team in McPherson High School history to date, but as one of the finest teams in Kansas state history. The combination of Chapman's stellar pitching, the team's offensive prowess, and Hoelting's leadership created a magical season that delivered the program's ultimate prize for the McPherson Softball Program.
