City Park Department to Begin Mosquito Spraying
Selective treatment starts June 10, full city spraying planned for Thursday if weather permits

MCPHERSON, Kan. — The McPherson Park Department will begin addressing recent mosquito concerns with selective spraying starting Tuesday, June 10, 2025, following increased mosquito activity due to recent rainfall. Weather permitting, park staff will conduct a comprehensive spraying across the entire city on Thursday, June 12, with operations scheduled primarily during evening hours between 8 p.m. and midnight in public spaces to maximize effectiveness while minimizing public exposure.
Park officials are advising residents with asthma or respiratory sensitivities to remain indoors during spraying operations and recommend precautionary measures including closing windows, doors, and vents, turning off fans and air conditioners or setting them to recirculate, and bringing in outdoor toys and furniture. The city will also deploy Mosquito Dunks, specialized tablets designed to control mosquito larvae in standing water within public drainage areas, as part of the comprehensive mosquito management strategy. Park Department Supervisor Lauren Przymus is available at (620) 245-2535 or laurenp@mcpcity.com for questions regarding the spraying schedule, and staff will continue monitoring the situation to determine if additional treatments are necessary in the coming days.
