City Firefighters Deployed to Chase County for Swift Water Rescue
City Commission, June 10, 2025

MCPHERSON - The McPherson Fire Department successfully assisted in a swift water rescue operation in Chase County on June 4, deploying as part of a statewide regional search and rescue response to rising floodwaters across eastern Kansas. McPherson's Task Force Five, working alongside Task Force Six, rescued two residents and their dogs who had become trapped by floodwaters and were unable to evacuate safely on their own. Fire officials reported that all individuals and animals were brought to safety without injury, demonstrating the effectiveness of the regional mutual aid system that allows local departments to respond to emergency situations beyond city limits.
