SALINA, Kan. — The McPherson High School Bullpups baseball team saw their championship dreams end in heartbreaking fashion Friday, falling to defending state champion Rock Creek 3-1 in eight innings during a thrilling Class 4A semifinal matchup. The contest featured an outstanding pitching duel, with senior Carter Allen delivering a masterful performance on the mound for the Bullpups in what proved to be a classic battle between two of the state's premier programs. Despite the difficult extra-inning loss, McPherson showed their championship character by bouncing back strong later Friday in the third-place game.

The resilient Bullpups dominated Paola 11-4 in convincing fashion to claim the bronze medal and cap off a remarkable season with a 27-4 record. The impressive campaign, led by a senior class filled with college-bound players, will go down as one of the greatest in program history, showcasing the depth of talent and leadership that defined this special group. With so many senior leaders planning to continue their careers at the collegiate level, this Bullpup team leaves behind a legacy of excellence and serves as a testament to the strength of McPherson's baseball program.
