The McPherson Bullpups track and field teams delivered their strongest performances of the season Friday at the Hesston meet, with both boys and girls squads securing impressive second-place finishes. The Bullpups demonstrated their depth and talent across multiple events, combining for 32 personal records that left coach John Montgomery visibly pleased with the team's development.
On the boys' side, Ethan Elder etched his name in the meet's history books by setting a new record in the 800 meters with a blazing time of 1:56. Matt Burger earned the meet's Most Outstanding Male Athlete honors after dominating the sprints with first-place finishes in both the 100 and 200 meters. Distance specialist Caleb Muehler rounded out the boys' victories by claiming top honors in the 3200 meters.
The girls team matched their counterparts' success with Karsen Burris winning javelin with a throw of 119 feet, Andi Buschbom capturing the long jump title with a leap of 17'1.25", and Ellie Herrera clearing 5'5" to win high jump. Additional standout performances came from Lexi Patterson, who placed second in the 800 meters, and Arihanna Koehn, who took first in the 100-meter hurdles and second in the 300-meter hurdles.
