WINFIELD, Kan. — The McPherson High School Bullpups tennis team capped their successful season with a strong showing at the Class 4A State Tournament in Winfield over the weekend, bringing home two medals against the state's top competition. The doubles team of Bryson Archer and Alex Berger led the Bullpups' efforts, showcasing excellent chemistry and tactical play throughout the tournament to secure a fifth-place finish and earn a spot on the medal stand. Meanwhile, Cooper Bohme added to McPherson's medal count with a 12th-place finish in singles competition, demonstrating resilience and skill against a challenging field of opponents.

The Bullpups displayed impressive depth with solid performances across their entire state-qualifying lineup. Singles player Owen Neighbors compiled a respectable 2-2 record in a highly competitive singles bracket, while the doubles tandem of Jonas Emery and Mason Eisenbart matched that mark with a 2-2 performance in doubles play. The collective effort from all six state qualifiers highlighted the strength of McPherson's tennis program and provided valuable state tournament experience for the team.
