Local teens and young adults learned how to safely change a flat tire, an essential life skill, during a hands-on workshop earlier this week. The Tuesday evening class, hosted by the Newton Public Library, was led by Newton Public Schools auto instructor Bob Ziegler and staff from local dealership Midway Motors. Designed for individuals ages 15 and older, the event aimed to equip young drivers with the knowledge and confidence to handle unexpected roadside emergencies.

Following an initial demonstration by Ziegler, who teaches Career and Technical Education courses for USD 373, attendees put their instruction to the test by practicing on vehicles parked in the library's lot. The 90-minute session gave participants practical, real-world experience using proper safety procedures. Library officials declared the workshop a resounding success and said they hope to partner with community organizations to host similar life-skills events in the future.
