Kobach Seeks Reelection As Kansas Attorney General Kansas Attorney General Kris Kobach is running for reelection in 2026, focusing his campaign on reduced crime rates, lawsuits against the former Biden administration, and immigration enforcement partnerships with the Trump administration. Democrat Chris Mann announced his candidacy the same day, potentially setting up a rematch of their tight 2022 race where Kobach won by just 16,000 votes with 50.8% to Mann's 49.2%. Cooler Temperatures Continue, Weekend Storms Expected Kansas will enjoy continued heat relief with Friday temperatures reaching only 80 degrees - more than 10 degrees below average - before storm chances return over the weekend. Meteorologists predict storms could develop into a line across western Kansas Saturday evening, moving into central Kansas by Sunday morning, with damaging winds as the primary severe weather threat. Five Teens Arrested After Newton Shooting Five 17-year-old boys were arrested following a shooting at a Newton apartment complex that left one teen hospitalized with arm and leg wounds. Police concluded the incident was "a gun and drug trade deal gone wrong" where both groups exchanged gunfire after one side brandished a weapon. Kansas.com --- ## 5\. Chiefs' Butker To Join Trump At White House Fitness Initiative Kansas City Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker will join President Trump at a White House ceremony Thursday to announce an executive order expanding the Presidential Council on Sports, Fitness and Nutrition, including reviving the Presidential Fitness Test in public schools.
