Hutchinson's Darbie Wells tees off at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 21, in the second round of 5A state golf in Hesston, Hutch Salthawk Athletics said. Wells is the second girl in seven years to make day two, according to the account. It did not say whether that count covers only Hutchinson High golfers.

Wells shot a 95, 24 over par, in the first round Tuesday, Oct. 20, and was tied for 34th as of the account's post that day. The post did not give the size of the field, how golfers advanced to the second day or what placing earns a state medal.

Wells, a Hutchinson High School junior, won the Ark Valley Chisholm Trail League Division I tournament before state, according to Adastra Radio coverage. Her final score and placing will be decided in Wednesday's round.
