Multiple road closures affect Reno County travel

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Multiple road closures across Reno County are impacting travel as officials conduct infrastructure projects and address weather-related issues.

The Reno County Public Works Department announced several closures affecting different areas of the county, with projects ranging from routine maintenance to bridge replacement.

Construction Projects

Trail West Road between Olcott Road and Jordan Springs Road closed Wednesday for crossroad pipe replacement. The closure, located east of Sylvia, has no specified reopening date.

Victory Road between 43rd Avenue and 69th Avenue also closed Wednesday for bridge replacement over the Little Arkansas River. County officials have not provided a timeline for completion of the project.

High water has forced the closure of two roads in southeast Reno County. Arlington Road between Haven Road and Victory Road and Worthington Road between Arlington Road and Lake Cable Road remain closed until water levels recede.

The Public Works Department said the water-affected roads will remain closed until further notice.

Travel Impact

The multiple closures affect travel patterns across rural Reno County, requiring motorists to find alternate routes for daily commutes and local travel.

County officials advise drivers to plan accordingly and allow extra time for travel while the roads remain closed for construction and weather-related issues.

The closures represent ongoing infrastructure maintenance and weather response efforts by Reno County to maintain safe travel conditions throughout the county road system.
