Mayor wins at Donut Day
May 18, 2025

Mayor Stacy Goss walked away from the Salvation Army’s annual Donut Day eating contest with first place–in the most donuts eaten category.
“Hey Hutch! I didn't win the fundraising part yesterday, but I did win the donut eating contest,” she said. “Seventeen donuts!”
This competition, in its third year, raises funds to support both local and global Salvation Army programs, with half funding summer camps for area youth and the other half benefiting the Salvation Army’s international efforts, including hospitals, schools, and orphanages in countries where such services are limited
Goss actually had to go into a tie-breaker round to win her bragging rights, but she wasn’t done yet. She had a goal of raising $500 by herself, so she took to social media after her win and was able surpass her personal goal with a $545 total.
“We did it! Thank you all for your donations,” she said. “Thank you to everyone who donated and attended such a fun event. Thank you to Hutch Auto Body and Daylight Donuts!”
It was a pretty great day for everyone as the event raised $4,904.01 to help send kids to camp and support Salvation Army programs.
The winner of the Raising Dough Award for the most money raised during the live event was Darrell from the Downtown Hutchinson Kiwanis Club, with the People’s Choice Award going to Micah and Jeff who brought in the most online donations before the contest.
