Kansas Lawmakers React to Israel's Strike on Iran

TOPEKA, Kan. — Kansas congressional delegation members joined President Donald Trump in responding to Israel's Friday morning attack on Iran's nuclear facilities that killed at least two top Iranian military officials.

The strike on Iran's capital raised tensions across the Middle East as Iran quickly retaliated with more than 100 drones targeting Israel. Countries worldwide called for immediate de-escalation between the longtime adversaries.

Kansas officials took to social media to address the developing conflict, though specific statements from the delegation were not immediately detailed. The state's congressional representatives have historically supported strong U.S.-Israel relations while advocating for Middle East stability.

Rep. Tracy Mann stated via social media simply, "Pray for Israel."

In a social media post, Sen. Roger Marshall stated, "As our ally, Israel, takes the steps necessary for their own safety and security, we must remain steadfast in our commitment to the safety of our brave American troops deployed across the Middle East — ensuring their protection is paramount as they safeguard our values.

"May God be with both our nations."

Trump said Thursday he did not believe an Israeli attack was imminent but acknowledged it "could very well happen." Once strikes began, the administration emphasized the U.S. was not involved in the operation.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio said Israel took "unilateral action" and advised the U.S. that strikes were necessary for self-defense. The administration's top priority remains protecting American forces in the region, Rubio said.

Israel targeted Iran's main nuclear enrichment facility at Natanz and destroyed dozens of radar installations. The attack involved about 200 aircraft hitting approximately 100 targets, according to Israeli military officials.

Trump is scheduled to meet with his National Security Council Friday to discuss the conflict with top advisers.
