Hutchinson Public Works Projects update

2025 Arterial Street Project - This project is advertised and we open bids on May 27. We will be milling and overlaying the center of East 3rd Avenue from Poplar to Plum Streets, Airport Road from 4th Avenue to just north of 11th Avenue, Lorraine from Avenue B to 4th Avenue including removing the abandoned RR tracks and adding bike lanes. Ave B from Washington to Walnut (skipping over Main Street) will get repairs, an edge mill and asphalt overlay with new striping.
2025 Residential Street Project - Circle C Paving completed crack sealing and will chip seal the residential streets between Monroe and Lorraine, north of 30th Avenue.
Lift Station Rehabilitation Project - CAS Constructors has started work on two of five different locations, Industrial Park (on E 11th Avenue), 7th and Porter, 19th Terrace, Regency Park, and Shears lift stations.
Woodie Seat Freeway Phase Two (Avenue C bridge to Avenue A)
Kansas Concrete has removed Avenue A bridge and ramps. Will continue work on Avenue B bridge, pavement, curb and gutter, guardrails, dirt embankment, and rebuild roadway including a roundabout on Avenue A. Traffic signals at Avenue A and Adams will also be upgraded
with camera detection. Video on website
West 30th Avenue Reconstruct Project
Procon Construction will complete work by the end of this month reconstructing 30th Avenue from Main to Adams including the intersection at 30th and Adams. This will include a 10' trail on the north side.
“(It) Should be completed late next week, end of month at the latest,” Mayor Stacy Goss said.
Plum Creek Subdivision
APAC Utilities Division is completing the construction of the Lift Station. They have installed the curb and gutter and will complete the concrete work next week. The asphalt street construction is scheduled for the last week of May. This is located on East 43rd Avenue, west of Lorraine.
Lift station construction completion waiting on well lids, estimated next week. Strawn to coordinate power installation with Evergy for lift station The application has been received by Evergy. Asphalt Paving work is expected to begin in the next two weeks.
Ditch Maintenance Projects
City of Hutchinson to perform regrading of ditches at North West Relief Ditch from Monterrey Place to Dartmouth/Monroe.
“Using city staff saves time and money,” Goss said. “Also, an interesting fact from our council's weekly report. Sewer Maintenance crews cleaned 5,500 feet of sanitary main line, the TV van scoped 3,000 feet of sanitary main line, and they flushed 120 sanitary manholes. This team was at the Third Thursday event last night with the van! Thanks for all you do!”
