Hutchinson Public Library invites community to participate in Summer Mural Project

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The Hutchinson Public Library is inviting community members to contribute self-portraits to a community mural project running throughout the summer.
Library patrons can pick up drawing prompt sheets and create self-portraits in traditional or unconventional styles to add to an evolving art wall. Completed artwork should be brought to the reference desk with the artist's name and contact information.
The library will host an art reception at the end of summer for all participants in the community mural project.
The library also reported strong participation in its student library card program launched in May. Every elementary student in the district received a library card, and students have checked out 1,048 books to date. Students who have misplaced their cards can still check out books by visiting the circulation desk.
The library offers free summer meals from 11 a.m. to noon, Monday through Friday, with no service on July 4.
Full details about the mural program are available on the library's website at hutchpl.org.
The Hutchinson Public Library is located at 901 N. Main St. and can be reached at (620) 663-5441. Hours are Monday through Thursday 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Friday and Saturday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and closed Sunday.
