Hutchinson Art Center to display permanent collection selections

The Hutchinson Art Center will unveil "Figuratively Speaking: Selections from the Permanent Collection" this month, showcasing artwork from the Hutchinson Art Association's decades-long collection.

The exhibition opens June 27 and runs through Aug. 1 in the center's Main Gallery, featuring works that highlight the human form and life experiences. An opening reception is scheduled for Friday, June 27, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the center located at 405 N. Washington St.

Over its seven-plus decade history, the Hutchinson Art Association has amassed more than 350 works by local, national and international artists. The upcoming display represents a curated selection from this permanent collection.

"This exhibition highlights artwork from the Permanent Collection that depicts the wonders of the human form and life, from naturalistic portrayals to abstract scenes, and everything in between," the art center stated. "It is sure to be a fun viewing experience."

The free public exhibition will feature live music during the opening reception from local musician Laura Southard. Attendees can enjoy light refreshments while viewing the displayed artwork.

The Hutchinson Art Center serves as a cultural hub for the community, regularly rotating exhibitions and hosting educational programming. The permanent collection represents decades of artistic acquisition and community support for visual arts.

The center's Main Gallery provides space for rotating exhibitions throughout the year, featuring both local and regional artists alongside selections from the permanent collection. Admission to exhibitions and events remains free and open to the public.

The "Figuratively Speaking" exhibition represents an opportunity for community members to view rarely displayed works from the association's extensive collection, spanning multiple decades and artistic styles.
