Whitney Shull

A former substitute teacher accused of sex crimes with students made her first court appearance Monday in Reno County District Court.

Whitney Shull, 39, who worked at Nickerson-South Hutchinson USD 309, was charged with unlawful sexual relations, attempted unlawful sexual relations, aggravated sexual battery and two counts of hosting minors consuming alcohol.

The alleged incidents occurred between Jan. 31 and Feb. 1 in Reno County, according to court documents. The complaint alleges Shull engaged in sexual acts with two teens, one consensual and one non-consensual when the alleged victim was unconscious. Shull also allegedly held down the wrists of a third teen to unsuccessfully engage in a sex act.

Shull's attorney did not attend Monday's hearing. She is scheduled to return to court for a status hearing July 23.

Shull met bond requirements on June 2 and is no longer in custody, according to online jail records.
