A Hutchinson Community College student from Goessel has earned recognition for her achievements in academics and theater arts through the college's Distinguished Dragon program.
Claire Reida, a psychology major, has been named to the President's Honor Roll and serves as a Presidential Scholar and member of the Honors Student Council. The college highlighted her academic performance and involvement in campus activities in its student spotlight series.
Reida has participated extensively in HutchCC's theater program, appearing in multiple productions and earning membership in the Delta Psi Omega National Theatre Honor Society. Her recent performance in "The Great Beyond" received recognition from Kennedy Center American College Theatre respondents.
The student represented HutchCC Theatre at the Irene Ryan Acting Competition during a regional festival in Des Moines in January, competing alongside fellow cast members at the collegiate level.
"Claire is talented in so many ways with her being a star in the classroom as well as on stage," according to the college's announcement.
Beyond her academic and theatrical pursuits, Reida has established connections within the campus community. She expressed gratitude to faculty members Taliatha Palmer, Deidre Mattox and Ryan Diehl for their support during her studies.
The psychology student plans to complete her degree at HutchCC next fall before transferring to continue her studies in the field.
HutchCC's Distinguished Dragon program showcases outstanding students across various academic disciplines and extracurricular activities. The college uses the initiative to highlight student achievements and community involvement throughout the academic year.
