Breaking: Fatal Two-Vehicle Crash Kills 2 in McPherson County

MOUNDRIDGE, Kan. (AP) — Two people died Thursday night in a two-vehicle crash in McPherson County, authorities said.

The crash occurred around 7:45 p.m. at Old Highway 81 and Arrowhead Road when a Toyota Corolla driven by 63-year-old Danny Heath of Hutchinson pulled out from a stop sign in front of a pickup truck driven by a 19-year-old man, according to the McPherson County Sheriff's Office.

The truck struck the passenger side of the Toyota, killing 30-year-old passenger Mariah Lyddane of Hutchinson at the scene. Heath was extricated from the vehicle and taken to a McPherson hospital before being transferred to Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, where he died Thursday morning.

The pickup driver was briefly hospitalized before being released.
