1. Heat Advisory Issued for Central and Eastern Kansas

The National Weather Service issued a heat advisory Friday morning for parts of north-central, northeast, central and east-central Kansas, including Topeka, lasting through 8 p.m. Heat indices were expected to reach 102 to 107 degrees during the afternoon, marking the first significant heat event of the season and posing increased health risks to residents unaccustomed to such temperatures.

2. Kansas Measles Outbreak Resolved in Five Counties, Three New Cases Reported

Kansas health officials announced Tuesday that the southwest Kansas measles outbreak has been resolved in five of nine affected counties, with no new cases reported in those areas for more than 42 days. However, four counties remain in active status with three new cases reported in the past week, two linked to the ongoing outbreak, according to the Kansas Department of Health and Environment.

3. Kansas Congressional Delegation Backs Trump on Iran Nuclear Threat

Kansas Republican representatives voiced strong support Friday for President Trump's approach to preventing Iran from developing nuclear weapons, with Rep. Tracey Mann stating the nation should unite behind whatever decision the president makes regarding potential military strikes. The Trump administration indicated a determination could come within two weeks about deploying sophisticated weapons to dismantle Iran's nuclear sites, while Reps. Ron Estes and Sen. Roger Marshall expressed confidence in Trump's handling of the escalating Middle East tensions.

4. Decomposed Body Found at Sedgwick County Park Near Zoo

A park employee discovered a body in advanced decomposition Thursday afternoon in a grassy area of Sedgwick County Park near 21st Street North and Ridge, according to the Sheriff's Office. The remains, found outside a tent at a single campsite around 1:15 p.m., were too decomposed to immediately determine age, gender or visible signs of injury, and authorities are working with the coroner's office to identify the deceased while reviewing missing persons cases.

5. Pacers Force Game 7 in NBA Finals with Dominant Victory

The Indiana Pacers kept their championship hopes alive Thursday night with a commanding 108-91 victory over the Oklahoma City Thunder, forcing the first Game 7 in the NBA Finals since 2016. Obi Toppin led the Pacers with 20 points and Andrew Nembhard added 17 as Indiana dominated at home to set up a winner-take-all showdown Sunday night in Oklahoma City.
