MARION - The City of Marion must pay nearly $80,000 in attorney fees to the Marion County Record for violating the Kansas Open Records Act following the controversial police raid on the newspaper in August 2023. 4. Appeals Court Restores Gender Marker Changes on Kansas Driver's Licenses

TOPEKA - A three-judge Kansas Court of Appeals panel Friday overturned a lower court ruling and cleared the way for Kansans to resume changing gender markers on their driver's licenses, rejecting arguments from Attorney General Kris Kobach. The appeals court ordered the case back to district court to be heard by a different judge, ruling that Shawnee County District Judge Teresa Watson abused her discretion and made legal and factual errors in her original decision.
