A broken 12-inch water main valve prompted the temporary closure of Oak Street between 13th and 14th streets in Hays on Thursday.

The City of Hays Department of Water Resources conducted the repair on the north side of the 13th Street intersection, warning nearby customers that their water service could be temporarily disrupted.

Crews placed caution signs to guide traffic around the work zone while they completed the repairs and restored normal operations.
