# Hays City Commission to review July financials, vote on park HVAC upgrades

The Hays City Commission is set to review the city's July financial report and vote on a $43,700 bid for Parks Department HVAC upgrades during its upcoming meeting on Thursday, Aug. 27.

The financial statement details $3.91 million in July revenue — an $809,236 drop from the same period last year, driven largely by lost interest income from $15.5 million in maturing certificates of deposit. Monthly expenditures fell by $373,425 to nearly $3.18 million, despite increased park spending for new playground equipment at Sunrise Park. The playground will be celebrated with a community ribbon-cutting ceremony Thursday.

Commissioners will also consider awarding the HVAC contract to Werth Heating, Plumbing & AC and formally issuing two series of general obligation bonds.

The board also voted 5-0 to establish a $1.6 million special benefit district for infrastructure improvements spanning 24 lots in Phase 6 of the Tallgrass First Addition. It also voted unanimously to advance financial incentives to help a developer convert the historic Lincoln Elementary School into a multi-family housing complex.
