NEWTON, Kan. — The Harvey County Commission will meet Tuesday, July 14, to set the maximum tax levy for its 2027 budget and consider issuing a combined notice for an upcoming revenue-neutral rate and budget hearing, according to the published commission agenda.

The board — comprising Commissioners Terry Scott, Becky Reimer and Don Schroeder — is also scheduled to approve warrant checks totaling $200,405.22 and accept responses to requests for proposals for publishing county legal notices, according to the agenda.

During the 9 a.m. meeting in the courthouse basement's Community Room, Harvey County Sheriff Chad Gay is slated to present his office's crime and operational statistics from June 2026, according to the agenda.

Afterward, commissioners are set to enter a private executive session on contract negotiations with County Administrator Kevin Frymire, Assistant County Administrator Shannon Kingsley, County Clerk Rick Piepho and County Counselor Brad Jantz, according to the agenda.
