# Free tailgate and concert to kick off Blue Dragons football season

Hutchinson Community College will celebrate the start of its 2026 football season Thursday evening with a free public concert and tailgate party before the Blue Dragons take the field. The pregame festivities are scheduled from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at Central Park on the HutchCC campus and will feature food for purchase alongside live music by Scott Wolverton, a former Blue Dragons baseball player and assistant coach.

College officials are encouraging fans to arrive early, grab a bite to eat and enjoy the entertainment to help welcome back the defending Jayhawk Conference champions.

Following the tailgate, the No. 2-ranked Blue Dragons will open their season against the Cisco College Wranglers at Gowans Stadium. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. as head coach Drew Dallas and his team begin a new campaign after finishing 2025 as the NJCAA national runner-up.

The season opener, themed "Tailgate and Touchdowns", gives fans a chance to rally behind the team following an accelerated fall training camp.
