# Expanded Frontier Open disc golf tournament seeks volunteers for September event

The Flying Bison Disc Golf Club expanded its participant field to 270 players for the 42nd annual [Frontier Open Disc Golf Tournament](https://www.haysusa.com/555/Disc-Golf?ref=citizenjournal.us), scheduled for Sept. 12-13 at [Frontier Park in Hays](https://www.haysusa.com/Facilities/Facility/Details/East-Frontier-Park-37?ref=citizenjournal.us). The park is home to a 1983 layout that remains the last original grassroots disc golf course in Kansas.

After adding a new course to raise the previous cap of 180 competitors, pre-registration for the state's oldest sanctioned Professional Disc Golf Association tournament filled in just five days, leaving eight players on a waitlist.

With the event expected to be Kansas' second-largest disc golf tournament this year, organizers are seeking volunteers, no prior experience needed, and ask interested individuals, businesses or organizations to contact brett\_straight@hotmail.com.
