### Water pipeline project finishes nearly $170,000 under budget

EVANSTON, Wyo. - A 2022 city water transmission pipeline project has been completed at a savings of $169,345.82, the City Council learned Tuesday. The council unanimously approved a final change order that reconciled the project's unit bid prices, resulting in the significant underrun. A city official noted the savings were substantial for a project of its magnitude, attributing much of it to using less imported fill material than originally anticipated. The surplus funds will be returned to the city's water enterprise fund.

### Animal shelter gas chamber has been decommissioned, chief confirms

EVANSTON, Wyo. - In response to a citizen question, Police Chief Michael Vranish confirmed Tuesday that the gas chamber at the city’s animal shelter has been removed. “We quit using it right away,” Vranish said, explaining that a contractor removed the equipment that morning and it is now in a scrap pile. He also addressed concerns about shelter operations, stating that discussions are underway about redesigning the facility to separate cats and dogs, a project that would require additional funding. He reported that 30 dogs and 23 cats were euthanized last year, primarily animals that were too sick, old or aggressive to be adopted.

### County partners with Prometheus Hyperscale for 300-acre ‘workforce hub’

EVANSTON, Wyo. - The Uinta County Commission on Tuesday ratified a letter of intent with Prometheus Hyperscale to explore a large-scale “workforce hub” in the county. In a unanimous vote, commissioners approved committing a site of up to 300 acres for the project.

### County accepts $276,000 grant for road dust suppression

EVANSTON, Wyo. - Uinta County will move forward with dust suppression on county roads after commissioners voted to accept a Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality (CMAQ) grant from the Wyoming Department of Transportation. The $276,044 award requires a 20 percent county match of $69,011\. The funds will be managed by the Road and Bridge department.

### Commissioners approve 10-year, $927,000 security overhaul for county buildings

EVANSTON, Wyo. - Uinta County is set to receive a major security upgrade after commissioners approved a 10-year lease agreement with a security vendor for new equipment. The contract, valued at $92,785 per year, will provide cameras, locks and alarm systems for county-owned buildings. The proposal passed unanimously and remains subject to final approval from the County Attorney’s Office.

### County fair attendance exceeds 4,000; planning for 2026 begins

EVANSTON, Wyo. - The 2025 Uinta County Fair and Cowboy Days drew just over 4,000 attendees over its three-day run, Fair Manager Natalie Cornia reported to commissioners Tuesday. Cornia, a former Cowboy Days Committee president, also noted that a new president has been selected for the event.
