### $750,000 grant awarded for communications system

DICKINSON COUNTY, Kan. — The Dickinson County Commission announced the receipt of a $750,000 grant from the federal Community Oriented Policing Services program to help fund the county's 800-megahertz communication system project. County Administrator Janelle Dockendorf reported the award during Tuesday's meeting, noting that the funds will support the major communications infrastructure upgrade the county has been implementing over the last couple of years.

Meanwhile, county administration urged residents to be patient with county road crews, as recent heavy rains have left gravel roads across the county extremely muddy and difficult to grade until they dry out.

DICKINSON COUNTY, Kan. — Dickinson County has officially been designated as a Network Kansas "eCommunity," opening the door for new small business support. The commission announced the designation, explaining that the county's economic development corporation, Driving Dickinson County, will now be able to offer gap financing and small business loans to local entrepreneurs looking to start or expand their operations.
