### County sets early voting dates ahead of November election

CRAWFORD COUNTY, Kan. — Anticipating a high turnout for the upcoming 2026 gubernatorial race, the Crawford County Clerk's Office announced two early voting events for the November election. Early voting will be available to residents on Oct. 19 at a Pittsburg State University polling site and on Oct. 24 at the Homer Cole Center. Both mobile polling sites will be open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. to offer a convenient alternative to Election Day lines.

### County to test road gravel quality amid dust complaints

CRAWFORD COUNTY, Kan. — Responding to a recent influx of citizen complaints regarding severe road dust, Crawford County commissioners announced plans to test the hardness and quality of the Aggregate Base 3 gravel used on county roads. The commission suspects that increased traffic volume is pulverizing the rock at a faster rate than in neighboring counties, a problem currently exacerbated by a lack of rain.
