# City parks department launches 'Mac Bloom Flower Hunt' for July

MCPHERSON, Kan. — In celebration of National Parks and Recreation Month, the city's Public Lands and Facilities Department is launching the 2026 Mac Bloom Flower Hunt to encourage residents to explore local green spaces. Beginning Monday, July 6, city officials will release a weekly clue about a specific plant species located within one of McPherson's numerous parks. Participants who successfully track down the foliage can email a photo of themselves with the plant to [parksoffice@mcpcity.com](mailto:parksoffice@mcpcity.com) to be entered into a prize drawing. The interactive initiative, themed around "The Power of Connection," aims to showcase nature's beauty while keeping the community actively engaged outdoors throughout the month.
