# Bullpups Varsity Girls Tennis Opens Season With Three Division Titles

HESSTON, Kan. — The McPherson Bullpups varsity girls tennis team made a statement in their 2026 season opener Monday at Hesston, claiming three division championships en route to a first-place team finish with 29 points, eight ahead of runner-up Hesston's 21\. Audra Sandbo went a perfect 3-0 to win the No. 2 singles division in her varsity debut, the doubles team of Dragon Rodriguez and Lleyton Kuhn dominated the field with an 8-0 opening victory before back-to-back 8-3 wins in the semifinals and finals, and Avery Unruh and Quinn Liebl also went 3-0 to claim their doubles division, while Mayson Wiens rebounded from a semifinal loss to defeat Hesston's Laine Wildener 8-2 for third place at No. 1 singles. McPherson returns to action next week on their home courts.
