# Bullpups Fall 0-3 in State Quarterfinals

MCPHERSON, Kan. — The McPherson Bullpups varsity boys soccer team saw its season come to an end Friday, falling 0-3 to Berean Academy in the state quarterfinals on a rain-soaked field that made footing treacherous throughout the night. Goalkeeper Hunter Schroeder made three saves while the Bullpups generated four shots on goal, including a near-equalizer when Dima Peters struck the inside of the post in the second half, only to watch the ball roll across the face of the goal without finding the net. Berean scored early off a ball that skipped behind the McPherson defense, and after the Bullpups pushed numbers forward late in search of a goal, Berean capitalized on the counterattack with two late goals to close out the match. "It just wasn't our night, and unfortunately, the ball didn't bounce our way," head coach Chris Adrian said. "But one thing that was never in question was the heart, effort, and determination of this group of boys. They gave everything they had, right up until the final whistle." Adrian noted the team hosted two postseason games and put together one of the program's best regular-season records in years against a difficult schedule, adding, "The scoreboard says our season is over, but it doesn't begin to tell the story of this team."
