MCPHERSON, Kan. — The McPherson Bullpups eighth-grade boys football team defeated Rose Hill 34-28 on the strength of a four-touchdown performance from Jaxon Carlson. Carlson rushed for three scores and tossed a 7-yard touchdown pass to Dax Prose, while Eli Barnett ignited the Bullpups with a 75-yard kickoff return for a touchdown on the opening play. McPherson led 28-14 at halftime, held off a furious Rose Hill rally in the fourth quarter and secured the win by recovering an onside kick and converting a first down to run out the clock.
