[Sign up free](https://subscribe.citizenjournal.us/?ref=citizenjournal.us) The Buhler High School Crusaders shut out the Augusta High School Orioles 29-0 on Friday, October 23, 2026, at Crusader Stadium in Buhler, KS. The teams entered the game with matching 5-2 season records. Buhler's two losses came at the hands of Kansas Class 4A rivals #3 Great Bend and #4 McPherson. The Crusaders received the opening kickoff and promptly showed the offensive dominance that would define the game. On their first possession, Buhler moved the ball briskly downfield. Senior Asher McConnaughy ran 29 yards to put the first score on the board with 8:48 remaining in the first quarter. Augusta took the ensuing kickoff and moved downfield, reaching the Crusaders' 17-yard line. But the Crusaders recovered an Orioles fumble, and Augusta never threatened to score again. The first quarter ended 7-0 in favor of the home-standing Crusaders. Buhler ran the ball all game, powered by star junior running back Landon Martinez. Martinez had several explosive runs and scored a touchdown on the ground. Crusader senior quarterback Asher Zachary directed the offense, going 7 for 9 passing to keep the Augusta defense off balance. Buhler's second score came on a pass from Zachary to junior receiver Garrett Gleason. Buhler scored again at the end of the second quarter to close out the half with the score of 21-0. The Crusaders' defense was up for the challenge on Friday evening, shutting out the Orioles. The defense created four turnovers and scored a safety after the Buhler special teams pinned Augusta on their own one-yard line on punt coverage. In the second half, Buhler missed a field goal attempt and scored a late touchdown. The extra-point try missed, and the game ended 29-0. The win put the Crusaders at #3 in the Kansas Class 4A West standings.
