A cell tower could be coming to Buhler: the City Council is set to take its first look Tuesday, Oct. 27, at an ordinance that would grant a special use permit for one.

The agenda lists the item as Ordinance 668, tied to special use case SU-26-01, but does not say where the tower would stand, who would build it or how tall it would be.

Local news outlets have reported that the proposal continues earlier discussions about a T-Mobile tower, which the council delayed for a public petition. The agenda does not say whether Ordinance 668 concerns that same tower.

Before the cell tower item, Waters Edge Aquatic Design is set to present a condition assessment of the Buhler swimming pool. Previous reporting shows that the city received a grant for a pool study earlier this year.

The agenda does not include the assessment's findings or any cost estimates.

Two ordinances return to the council as unfinished business. According to the Public Health Law Center, Ordinance 666 would set up a land bank, a tool Kansas cities are authorized to use to manage blighted and vacant property, and grew out of community conversations about such properties.

Reports show that Ordinance 667 would exclude property from city limits after a recent public hearing on a de-annexation petition. The agenda does not identify the property or the petitioner.

The council is also scheduled to take up certification of the police department, police department updates and an item the agenda lists as the BGS crosswalk, without further detail on any of them.

The meeting begins at 7 p.m. at the City Office, 219 N. Main, and residents can speak during the Citizen's Forum near the start. The consent agenda covers minutes, the appropriations ordinance and budget, income and water reports.
