# 30th Avenue now closed both directions at K-61 as storm pipe work expands

Both directions of 30th Avenue near K-61 closed at 8 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 25, expanding a westbound-only closure the city imposed Aug. 20 after a storm pipe failed beneath the roadway. The city said the expansion followed further investigation of the stormwater infrastructure and that the wider closure is necessary to keep motorists and crews safe while that system is evaluated and work continues in the area.

The detour directs traffic south to 17th Avenue in both directions. Repair work was scheduled to begin Monday, Aug. 24.

The city's update does not restate the limits of the closure. The Aug. 20 westbound closure ran between Apple Lane and K-61 Highway, where the city cited the potential risk of roadway collapse.
