MCPHERSON, Kan. — Seventeen students pursuing healthcare careers have received 2026 Evaline Hess Healthcare Careers Education Scholarships, the scholarship committee announced in a Sept. 14 news release. The recipients are Erica Andreas, Irina Bastos Cerdas, Kaitlyn Bergstrom, Jaiden Bliss, Ellie Bower, Karsen Burris, Kylie Bush, Magdalene Clark, Mallorie Cooper, Kenna Dale, Aspyn Holm, Jordan Martens, Caitlyn Pearson, Savannah Schmidt, Beckett Schuckman, Savannah Souder and Anna Vogts.

The committee said the scholarships are awarded in three categories: initial entry into healthcare, career advancement and updates in technical training. The committee and McPherson Hospital operate the program in honor of George and Evaline Hess. The scholarship was established in 1980, according to the [McPherson Center for Health's background on the 2025 award cycle](https://mcphersoncenterforhealth.org/evaline-hess-healthcare-careers-education-scholarship-awards-19-scholarships-to-local-students/?ref=citizenjournal.us).

The committee considers new applicants and returning recipients each year, and students may receive support for up to four years. Students interested in the 2027 scholarships should contact Tara Williams, the hospital's listed scholarship contact, in late January 2027 at [taras@mcphersonhospital.org](mailto:taras@mcphersonhospital.org).

The Evaline Hess Healthcare Careers Education Fund, administered by the McPherson County Community Foundation, continues to accept gifts.
